Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: Poppies are the most extravagant of flowers. The colours, the texture of the petals - aren’t they more like butterflies than earthbound rooted things? Especially when they are dancing in the breeze. Inspired by 17th century scientific illustration.

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: Do you ever stop and look around you and think ‘THIS IS IT’.... this moment is the great here and now. Every moment is so full of glory, even in the most simple of surroundings. The vibrance and energy of this painting excites me. It represents a total awareness of being in the moment and feeling the glory of life.

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: Isn't it wonderful that we can find joy in the small things; the perfection of a flower, the fragrance they give, the colours that uplift us. All around us there are reminders that life is good.

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: Geraniums are one of the first plants I buy to decorate my garden...they bring a smile to my face every time I step into my away space. They bloom for the whole season and need the occasional care. Inspiration came easy with those bold colours and organic leaves.

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: “Scarlet Dance” is about the colour red-it’s shades evoke feelings of love, passion, fire and danger, a daring expression of vibrant colour. In this mixed media floral you will see elements of collage depicting musical notes, hence the dance within.

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: Simple Splendour shares the beauty of a rambling rose plant in Brentwood Bay at our veterinarian's office. The plant boasts multi-coloured blossoms –all fiery colours of the sun! The rose’s perfume is as intense as its hues –absolutely intoxicating! This artwork combines two favourite things: stained glass and roses. This fabric version required 13.5 metres of ribbon to create the stained glass effect! Simple Splendour brings me back to the glory of summertime.

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: I saw these lilies growing along Oak Bay Avenue. It was early evening, and the sun cast a light that provided a naturally darker backdrop. As I was shooting, words like elegant, graceful, and dramatic were defining what I was seeing. But once I'd downloaded the images, I started to notice something else. It took awhile to realize it was a smidgen of sassiness. Like maybe these long-limbed lovelies were in a bit of a tussle to see who could get out of the pot first and run down the sunlit avenue. Either way, they're eye-catching! And I love them!

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: Spring is upon us and I have been watching the Anna's hummingbirds at my feeders all winter. They are so resilient and bossy and sweet. This piece combines my love of hummingbirds and my hope to see my magnolia blooms soon!

Inspiration/Statement - to appear on wall card: “Queen of the Night” (Epiphyllum oxypetalum). This delicate cactus flower blooms only at night, and is wilted by morning. It is found from Southern Mexico into South America, and visited and pollinated by bats and moths. As a linocut printmaker, I usually work with black ink onto white paper, but I wanted to try the reverse, and this beautiful--albeit ephemeral--desert flower struck me as a perfect subject to portray with white ink on black paper.
